Captain obvious capitals8/7/2023 They can't hit the broad side of a barn right now.Ģ. All I'm asking for is that the turrets do two things that they currently don't:ġ. Even that thing kills fighters with ease. Look at the capital ship you can upgrade your fleet with. It's a massive waste of credits at this time. I've equipped it with legendary weapons and components. I'm genuinely curious if people telling me that it does well in situations have actually even purchased one? I've used it in a war and bounties. Can you destroy a larger ship if you get right next to it with the cannon? Sure, but you'll be half dead from it and other fighters by then and it's not even a capital ship itself. The auto turrets are designed to combat fighters, and they do an abysmal job of that. Jenner, who signed a four-year, $15 million contract extension this summer, follows Lyle Odelein (2000-02), Ray Whitney (2002-03), Luke Richardson (2003-05), Adam Foote (2006-08), Rick Nash (2008-12) and Foligno (2015-21) as Blue Jackets captains.I want to love capital ships just like everyone else, but the whole "different ship, different role" argument is just silly. He’s a captain for a reason and I’m excited to be an alternate with him and kind of go through this thing and get this team going in the right direction.” “I don’t expect him to change too much now that he has a ‘C’ on his jersey. “That speaks more volumes than a guy who just comes in and says stuff whenever. “(Boone) says things when they need to be said,” Werenski said. Jenner is renowned for his work ethic, so it is assumed that he’ll continue to lead the Blue Jackets in ways that he always has - relentless forechecking, tireless work on the penalty kill and a willingness to give up his body to win puck battles or block shots. ![]() So, I’m super happy for him and it was a pretty obvious pick.” He has a great personality and that great work ethic, and he’s a guy who’s been here a while and knows what it takes to win. He’s a guy who guys are attracted to in the locker room, like being around him. So, yeah, no, I don’t think anyone was surprised by it. “Obviously, with the departures of some guys, that made it very clear that he was the next guy up. “Anyone who’s been in this organization and has been around Boone kind of knew that was going to happen at some point,” Werenski said. It’s the first time any of the three have worn a permanent letter. The Blue Jackets also named three alternate captains on Tuesday: forwards Oliver Bjorkstrand and Gus Nyquist, and defenseman Zach Werenski. “It was a pretty special moment, something I’ll never forget, to be able to share it with my teammates and the guys in the room.” You have to thank them because a lot of me comes from them and how I was brought up. “It was a surreal moment (getting the “C”). “I’m very excited to wear it for the guys in that room. “It’s obviously a tremendous honor,” Jenner said. He’s been an alternate captain the past several seasons in Columbus under Foligno. Jenner was captain of his junior club, the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League before he reached the NHL. Guys were genuinely happy for him when they heard, you could tell.” This is one of the best camps he’s had for us. When you look at it, it adds up, and he has the respect of the room. ![]() “Every year he’s grown as a player, not just as a leader - always trying to get better, always coming in in better shape, pushing the limits that way. Boone embodies who the Blue Jackets are and what we want to represent. “There are a lot of layers to this, but Boone checks so many boxes, there’s no question. There’s no question about it,” Blue Jackets coach Brad Larsen said. The “C” will be on his sweater for Thursday’s regular-season opener vs. Replacing them is a melange of young players and veterans, giving the club a dramatically new look on and off the ice.īut the player they named captain on Tuesday is the same player they would have picked back in July, the player who’s been viewed as “captain material” by the Blue Jackets ever since he was taken in the second round of the 2011 draft.īoone Jenner was named the Blue Jackets’ seventh captain in a dressing-room ceremony before practice on Tuesday.
